Bethesda Christian Institute was founded in 1963 by Pastor John V. Foster and his wife Marguerite Foster. Pastor Foster, or Bro. J.V. as most people call him, has been the head pastor of B.C.I. since they first opened the doors at the location on 3225 N. Flores. He has been preaching the Word for over 40 years. He was first touched by the Lord at the age of five and then again at the age of 13. While serving four years in the Navy on the Island of Guam, the Lord spoke to him as he studied God’s Word and thus began his journey to us. Together with his wife, they strive constantly to bring the light of Jesus into all our lives.

Pastor Jay Woodward gave his heart to Jesus as a child at the age of 13. He received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and began to hear the call of God to preach and teach His Word. In 1971 at age 25, he began to teach as a substitute in Sunday School and youth class. In 1977, he took over as pastor of a small country church. A short time later, he began training to become assistant pastor of B.C.I. He has been working full time in the ministry for twenty-five years under the guidance and direction of Pastor Foster. During this time, he has been a student, teacher, trainer, preacher, evangelist, and worship leader.
